Everything you can do on Dharmdutt.com: a guide to the free tools
A tour of the free tools on Dharmdutt.com: legal drafting for Indian courts, PDF and image tools, video converters and more than twenty calculators.
Dharmdutt.com is a collection of free tools for everyday work. There is nothing to install and no account to create, and most tools run entirely inside your browser, which means the files you work on stay on your own device. This guide walks through what is here so you can find the right tool quickly.
Short on time? Press / on any page, or use the Search button at the top, and type what you want to do, for example “resize photo to 50 KB”, “mkv to mp4” or “emi”. The search page also lists every tool by section.
Nyay Sahayak: legal drafting for Indian courts
Nyay Sahayak was built for advocates, court clerks and anyone who drafts routine court documents in India. It is the oldest part of the site and still the largest. It includes:
- An IPC to BNS converter and section search, covering the new criminal laws that came into force on 1 July 2024.
- Generators for order sheets, notices, summons by publication, release orders, mediation letters and other documents that courts see every day.
- Calculators for Section 138 cheque bounce deadlines, court fees and stamp duty.
- A case diary for hearing dates, an OCR tool that pulls text out of scanned pages, and a QR and barcode generator.
These are drafting aids. Please check any document against the current law and the practice of your court before you file it.
PDF tools
The PDF Toolkit covers the jobs people most often need a PDF program for: merge, split, rotate, reorder and delete pages, compress, add page numbers or a watermark, and convert between images and PDF in both directions. See the guides on page tools and reducing file size.
Image tools
The Image Toolkit can resize a photo to exact pixels or to a size in KB, crop and rotate it, compress and convert between JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO and more, add a watermark to a batch of photos, convert iPhone HEIC photos, and prepare a passport photo with a print sheet. Start with the guides on reducing an image to 50 KB and passport photos.
Video tools
The Video Toolkit converts almost any video format to MP4, with a dedicated page for each: MKV, AVI, MOV, WebM, FLV, TS, WMV, MPEG, 3GP, M4V, MOD, VOB, MTS, OGV, RM, MXF, DV, F4V and SWF. It also has an MP4 compressor, a video to MP3 extractor, an MP4 to GIF maker and a general format converter. The guide to converting videos to MP4 explains which settings matter.
Calculators
The Everyday Calculators section has more than twenty tools: money (EMI, SIP, RD, PPF, GST, HRA, interest, CAGR, inflation), health (BMI, calories), dates (age, add or subtract dates, working days, countdown), plus a unit converter, percentage, CGPA and profit margin calculators.
How it all works
Almost every tool here does its work on your device. The PDF, image, video and calculator tools read your file in the browser, process it there and hand the result back as a download. We explain what that means in practice, and how you can check it, in Are online file converters safe?. The short version: your files are not uploaded, nothing is stored, and the site does not ask you to sign in.
The few exceptions are named in the privacy policy, for example the optional form for reporting an error, which does send what you type to us so we can reply.
Suggest a tool or report a problem
This site grows from requests. If a tool is missing, gives a wrong answer or is hard to use, tell us through the feedback form. Specific examples, such as the file type, the numbers you entered and what you expected, help the most.
