What four dates does this calculator work out?
Cheque validity expiry (3 months from the cheque date), the last date to send the statutory demand notice (30 days from the dishonour/return memo), the 15-day payment period after the notice is served, and the final date to file the complaint (1 month after that payment period ends).
Why do I need to enter three separate dates?
Each deadline in Section 138 NI Act runs from a different event — the cheque date, the dishonour date, and the date the notice was actually served on the accused — so each one needs its own input to calculate accurately.
Does the calculator round or approximate the deadlines?
No — it applies calendar-accurate month arithmetic (handling short months correctly) rather than treating a month as a fixed number of days, so the computed deadlines match how courts actually count these periods.
