Frequently asked questions

What is a HEIC file and why can't I open it?

HEIC (or HEIF) is the photo format iPhones use by default because it saves space. Many websites, application forms, older Windows versions and some apps cannot read it, so converting to JPG makes the photo work everywhere.

How do I convert HEIC to JPG?

Choose your HEIC photos, pick JPG or PNG, and click Convert. Download each photo, or all of them as a ZIP if you converted several.

Will I lose quality?

At 92% JPG quality the difference is not visible for normal use. Choose PNG if you want no quality loss at all, at the cost of a much larger file. Details such as the camera and location stored with the photo are not copied into the converted file.

Can it convert other image types too?

Yes. Besides HEIC and HEIF it opens JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, SVG and AVIF files, and can save as JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF or ICO.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, so your photos never leave your device. The converter component is downloaded the first time you use the page.
