Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the Cognizance and First Order Sheet tabs?
Cognizance (this page) generates the order taking cognizance of a chargesheet after it's received; First Order Sheet (the other tab) generates the very first entry recorded when a brand-new case is registered — they're two different stages of a case.
How does the tool handle accused with different custody statuses?
Add a status group per accused (Jail, Bail, Anticipatory Bail, Notice served, etc.) and the tool composes one combined order paragraph covering everyone — for combinations it hasn't pre-verified, it flags the auto-composed paragraph with a review warning so you can double-check the wording before printing.
What if different accused face different sections?
Turn on "Complex Sections" to add separate charge groups, each with its own accused names and sections — the generated order then charges each group correctly instead of applying one section list to everyone.
